STUNT ACTION TEAM

STUNT ACTION TEAM was founded by Goran Stjepanovic and consists of some of the most experienced stunt professionals from Croatia and Slovenia. Every member of the team is a seasoned industry professional with extensive experience on major international film and television productions, including The Expendables 4, Tin Soldier, Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard, Outer Banks, and many others.

Our work is built on the highest standards of safety and professionalism. Every action sequence is developed through careful planning, risk assessment, and detailed preparation involving all relevant departments. This approach allows productions to execute complex action scenes with complete control over the process while ensuring the safety of stunt performers, actors, and crew members.

Our entire team specializes in performing a wide range of demanding action sequences. We approach every scene with a clear understanding of the motivation behind each movement, its role within the story, and the internal logic of the action being performed. We transform concepts into visually powerful, emotionally compelling, and dramatically coherent action sequences. Every performance is a deliberate choice, and every movement is carefully crafted to allow the audience to feel the rhythm, motivation, and energy behind the action.

We dedicate significant attention to understanding the story and dramatic structure of the screenplay, allowing us to fully grasp the complexity of each action sequence. Understanding the relationship between performance, camera, space, and rhythm is an essential part of our creative process. Every decision, movement, and reaction serves the purpose of making the scene dramatic, believable, and emotionally impactful. We carefully consider how every element of the environment, pacing, and performance influences audience perception.

Our work is not only visually effective; it strengthens the story because we understand the dramatic purpose of every moment, the demands of each sequence, and the way performance communicates with viewers.

stuntactionteam 12m

We believe action is more than visual spectacle. It is a powerful storytelling tool capable of deepening both narrative and character. When movement, camera, and motivation come together as a unified whole, an action scene becomes an integral part of cinematic storytelling - one that audiences remember long after the film ends. These are the kinds of sequences we strive to create on every project we undertake.

Our goal is not simply to execute challenging action scenes, but to transform ideas from the page into compelling, visually striking, and emotionally engaging action that leaves a lasting impact.

Action Design - Our approach to action design begins with an understanding of the story, the characters, and the dramatic purpose of each sequence. We treat action as an integral part of the narrative, where every movement, reaction, and decision is shaped by character motivation and the requirements of the scene.

Through script analysis, previsualization, storyboarding, animation, and action development, we create sequences that support the story while meeting the practical demands of production. Our process focuses on clarity of action, movement shaped by character, intention, and dramatic context and the relationship between performance, camera, and environment.

Actor preparation, stunt coordination, and performance development are approached as part of a unified process. We work closely with directors, cinematographers, and production teams to ensure that every action sequence is technically achievable, visually coherent, and aligned with the creative vision of the project.

Particular attention is given to the rhythm of the scene, spatial awareness, camera perspective, and the way action communicates information to the audience. Every element is carefully considered to ensure that the sequence remains clear, believable, and dramatically effective on screen.

By combining action design, performance, cinematography, and narrative structure, we develop action sequences that contribute to character development, support the progression of the story, and strengthen the overall impact of the film.

Previsualization - Our coordination team is one of the few in the region specialized in the complete design and preparation of action scenes in music videos, commercials, films, and TV series, in both domestic and international productions. Previsualization is not just about planning shots; it is a process through which we show the visual pulse of a scene and its energy before the camera starts rolling. It enables the team to evaluate ideas, explore solutions, and refine execution so that the action is clear, dramatic, and convincing before actual filming begins.

Through this process, performers and coordinators jointly assess how the action works within the space, how the characters relate to one another, and how each decision shapes the viewer’s perception. In this way, the scene becomes a consciously crafted performance, where every action has its purpose and is connected to the story the film aims to tell.

Action Scene Rehearsal - Our coordination team approaches every project with a comprehensive, detail-oriented, and highly disciplined methodology. We conduct thorough location scouting for all shooting environments and, in accordance with strict safety requirements, design and prepare the entire action sequence with precision.

In developing fight choreography, we provide multiple visual interpretations and staging solutions, enabling the director, director of photography (DoP), and producers to clearly evaluate the creative direction and execution of the action sequence. During rehearsals with performers, particular attention is given to safety protocols, as well as to the actors’ technical understanding, skill level, and physical capabilities required to perform the specific actions with confidence and control.

Choreography - Our coordination team is highly trained in designing combat sequences and tactical movement for battle scenes, carefully tailored to the narrative and supported by clear conceptual solutions and meticulous preparation through to final execution.

Every choreography is developed with its own narrative logic and purpose. For this reason, we consistently focus on character development and a deep understanding of the motivations behind each confrontation. Through our approach and precisely structured choreography, we aim to engage the audience on a deeper level - inviting them into the story, enabling identification with the central character in conflict, and fostering an immersive emotional connection to the unfolding action.

TEAM OF STUNT COORDINATORS

Our team consists of experienced professionals with extensive domestic and international backgrounds, gained through work on major film and television productions worldwide.

We approach action sequences as an integral component of cinematic storytelling. When a character’s motivation, intent, emotional state, and narrative significance are embedded in every movement, the action performance becomes far more than a technically demanding execution. Our objective is not only to deliver action sequences safely and precisely, but to create moments that meaningfully contribute to the progression of the story and feel authentic within the world and characters they represent.

Our coordinators work closely with directors, directors of photography (DoPs), and actors in shaping action scenes that meet the creative, performance, and production requirements of each project. The result is action that is technically flawless, emotionally engaging, and visually powerful, delivered with the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and performance quality.

FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY

Our coordination team develops every fight sequence in close alignment with the story and its characters. Each choreography is shaped around the specific relationships between characters, their intentions, and the circumstances in which the conflict takes place. In this way, no fight is ever the same - it becomes a unique extension of the script, guided by the scene’s dramaturgy, rhythm, and visual language, ensuring that every performance has a clear purpose within the story.

On-screen fight choreography requires a strong understanding of character, relationships, and the context that leads to conflict. A fight is not just a series of techniques or physical reactions, but a moment of storytelling where every movement comes from a character’s intent, their decisions, and their relationship to the opponent. The way a character moves, uses space, takes initiative, or reacts shapes how the audience experiences the conflict.

placeholder image

In the process of designing a fight, equal importance is given to performance, safety, cinematography, and the camera’s perspective. The choreography is developed in sync with the rhythm of the scene, the framing, and the visual demands of the project so that every movement remains clear, readable, and believable on screen. The goal is not to showcase technical complexity, but to create action that naturally emerges from the story and the characters.

Through close collaboration with directors, actors, and production teams, we develop choreography that connects fight skills, performance understanding, and the requirements of cinematic execution. Special attention is given to the rhythm of the conflict, the dynamics between characters, the use of space, and the way the camera follows the progression of the fight. This approach allows us to create scenes that are technically precise, safe to perform, and dramaturgically grounded.

stuntactionteam 39m

When character, movement, space, and camera work come together as a single unit, the fight becomes an integral part of cinematic storytelling. At that point, the action scene no longer depicts only physical conflict, but conveys emotion, intention, and narrative progression through movement.

Our team specializes in fight choreography for film and television productions, with a focus on precise execution, safety, and adaptation to the specific demands of each set. Experience across a wide range of action projects allows us to transform ideas into practical, clearly structured fight sequences.

stuntactionteam 45m

A key strength of our approach is the ability to work on everything from simple exchanges to highly complex choreography involving multiple performers and technically demanding environments. Each project is developed in collaboration with the director and production team to ensure a performance that is controlled, visually clean, and adapted to the rhythm of the shoot.

SWORD SKILLS

Sword work in film is an art of storytelling through movement, where character, intent, and circumstance are revealed through the way a weapon is used. How a character handles a sword depends on the historical period, the type of weapon, social status, level of experience, and the situation they are in. Different eras have developed distinct fighting styles, and a convincing performance requires an understanding of these differences and their adaptation to the demands of the cinematic scene.

Stunt performers from Stunt Action Team approach sword work through a clear understanding of both the character and the world they belong to. Grip, movement, posture, rhythm of the fight, and the relationship to the opponent are all shaped by the story and the personality of the character. This approach allows sword fighting to become an extension of character rather than a purely technical display of skill.

In sword choreography, special attention is given to movement control, spatial awareness, and performer safety. Precision, mutual trust between partners, and a clear understanding of the choreography are essential in creating scenes that feel convincing while meeting the highest safety standards of film production. It is equally important to understand the emotional moment in which the conflict takes place. When a performer understands the motivation and internal state of the character, every movement gains additional meaning and the scene gains greater dramatic weight.

The combination of swordsmanship, performance awareness, and on-camera work allows us to create scenes that remain faithful to the period, the characters, and the story the film seeks to tell.

SWAT TEAM, MILIRATY SKILLS AND CONSULTING

Action scenes depicting police and military operations require a clear understanding of operational logic, tactics, and patterns of movement within different environments. These situations are not shaped by physical action alone, but by decision-making, team coordination, strategic planning, and an overall mindset that creates a credible portrayal of professional conduct.

Action Skills and Combat Scenarios

Our stunt performers and coordinators possess the knowledge and experience to execute a wide range of action sequences, including:

- urban combat: fighting in cities, buildings, and streets
- rural combat environments
- open-field engagements
- close-quarters battle (CQB) in confined spaces
- trench warfare scenarios
- close combat situations
- tactical movement and maneuvering
- team tactical formations
- on-camera weapons handling for film purposes
- choreography of police and military action scenes
- operation of police and military vehicles for production needs
- rappelling and rope-based action work

SWAT and Military Expertise in Film Production

In film projects that require SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) and military skills, authenticity comes from a clear understanding of procedures, tactics, and operational behavior. Realism in these scenes is not achieved through movement alone, but through accurate decision-making, team coordination, and a disciplined approach to execution.

Our team includes experienced stunt performers who are current and former SWAT operators with more than 30 years of operational experience, as well as military specialists with over 35 years of professional service. This extensive field knowledge, combined with practical experience in film production, allows us to design action sequences that accurately reflect tactical procedures, team coordination, and the operational behavior of special units, while fully adapting to the demands of the camera and cinematic storytelling.

Realism and Cinematic Storytelling

This background enables us to build scenes grounded in real tactical understanding, including behavior in high-risk situations and the way SWAT and military units operate within different environments and combat scenarios. Through close collaboration with production teams, directors, and actors, we ensure that each scene maintains a strong sense of realism while still supporting the film’s dramatic structure and visual intensity. The result is action that feels authentic, controlled, and naturally believable on screen.

stuntactionteam 22m

Approach to Work and Performer Preparation

Our approach is based on developing SWAT skills and tactical understanding adapted specifically for film production. Through consultation, training, and scene preparation, we help actors and stunt performers understand the mindset and movement principles of special units. When a performer understands the logic behind these operations, their movement becomes more authentic, and the scene gains a level of weight and credibility that audiences naturally recognize.

This approach allows even the most complex on-screen operations to remain clear, controlled, and authentic, while still functioning as part of the film’s dramatic structure. Action is no longer just a depiction of tactical procedure, but a believable moment within the story where the audience can feel the real tension and stakes of such operations.

STUNT AND ACTOR TRAINING

Our training philosophy is built on the understanding that every physical action on screen must have a clear intention and a meaningful purpose within the story. Through a structured and progressive approach, we help actors and stunt performers develop body awareness, movement control, and an understanding of how action is shaped by character, circumstance, and the cinematic frame.

The learning process extends beyond the technical mastery of skills. It focuses on developing a performer’s ability to understand why a movement happens and how it functions within the narrative. Through this approach, action becomes a natural extension of character and dramatic storytelling rather than a series of isolated techniques.

stuntactionteam 17m
stuntactionteam mayday m1

During training, participants develop the core skills required for film and television production, including on-set safety, falling techniques, screen combat, weapons handling, reaction work, action scene performance, sword fighting, precision driving, and a variety of specialized stunt disciplines.

The program is designed for both beginners and experienced performers, allowing each participant to develop their abilities and pursue specialization in areas best suited to their individual strengths and professional goals.

Throughout the training process, participants learn how to connect movement, intention, and circumstance, creating performances that are controlled, believable, and fully integrated into the narrative demands of the production.

ACTOR REHEARSAL AND ON-SET PREPARATION

Actors involved in action sequences often require additional preparation to ensure their performance connects naturally with the physical demands of the scene. Through a structured rehearsal process, our team helps actors develop movement control, physical awareness, and a deeper understanding of action performance in relation to character and story.

Our training bridges action technique with dramatic performance, allowing physical action to remain consistent with a character’s emotions, motivations, and narrative arc. Through this approach, action becomes a natural and believable part of the performance rather than a purely technical element of the scene.

stuntactionteam 32m

We also offer one-on-one training tailored to the specific needs of the actor and the requirements of the production. These sessions allow performers to develop specialized skills, prepare for demanding roles, and build confidence ahead of upcoming film and television projects.

By integrating movement, performance, and storytelling, we help actors create action sequences that feel authentic and emotionally grounded. Physical action becomes an extension of character, where movement, emotion, and circumstance work together in service of the story.

stuntactionteam 39m

Throughout the preparation process, actors develop confidence, control, and clarity in their physical performance, while gaining a deeper understanding of how movement relates to scene partners, environment, and camera. This approach ensures that action sequences remain believable and visually effective while allowing the actor to maintain character continuity and emotional presence throughout even the most demanding situations.

STUNT PERFORMER LICENSING

The stunt licensing process represents an important step in the professional development of performers who aspire to work in the film industry. Through a structured system of training and on-set experience, aspiring stunt performers progressively develop the knowledge, confidence, and control required to perform demanding action sequences safely and effectively.

stuntactionteam 35m
stuntactionteam 3

Advancement is based on the continuous evaluation of technical skills, understanding of safety standards, and the ability to execute physical action within a cinematic environment. Through this process, stunt performers develop not only their technical abilities but also a strong sense of professional responsibility toward fellow performers, crew members, and the production as a whole.

Each stunt performer progresses through multiple stages of development, gaining practical experience and demonstrating readiness for increasingly complex action work. Only after meeting the required standards and qualifications can a performer work under the same professional conditions as experienced stunt professionals on film and television productions.

Our stunt doubles possess a broad range of skills, allowing them to adapt quickly to the demands of a production and seamlessly integrate different forms of action into complex cinematic sequences. Whether the scene requires combat, falls, tactical movement, driving, or other specialized stunt work, versatility is a key part of their preparation.

Through intensive training, our stunt doubles develop not only technical proficiency but also a strong awareness of every decision and movement made on set. They learn how to adapt to the rhythm of a scene, coordinate with actors and crew, and maintain the physical and emotional continuity of the character they are doubling. This approach ensures that every stunt performer becomes a convincing and integral part of the story, capable of responding to the demands of production with precision, awareness, and professionalism.
